Review of The Bourne Ultimatum

Movie #37 - The Bourne Ultimatum

The Bourne Ultimatum is the final installment in the original Bourne trilogy. The Bourne Ultimatum is the part of the story where Jason Bourne wins. He takes down Treadstone, and he even finds out all he needs to know about his past in the process. It's an action-packed conclusion.

This film has all action and not a lot of plot. I feel like the writers ran out of story, so the director was like, "Hey, let's just keep throwing in car chases and people jumping through windows or off rooftops to fill the extra space." At times I even forgot what was supposed to be going on because the chase scenes or the fight scenes were so long. At one point, when Nicky and Jason were jumping across the rooftops in Morocco, all I could think of was Aladdin. I even started singing, "One Jump Ahead" while watching. I know this movie was the climax of all of the other films, so naturally there's a lot of action at the turning point in a story; however, it was too much for me.

This is going to be a short review because this is the third of a trilogy, and the films are all so similar. The only thing I need to add for this one is that I don't enjoy not knowing the back story between Nicky and Jason. She talks to him about it in the diner, but she leaves it at a cliffhanger when she says, "You really don't remember, do you?" UGH! Well, we don't know either, so let us know, Nicky! I've even tried Googling the answer, and I've come up with nothing. FRUSTRATING. Maybe I should just read the books? Eh no.

Overall, I give The Bourne Ultimatum 3 out of 5 stars.
