Review of Clueless

Movie #48 - Clueless

Clueless is a 90's classic. If you were born in the 80s and grew up in the 90s, this movie was like your childhood bible. Every girl wanted to dress like Cher, talk like Cher, and get a guy that looked like Josh. I remember who I was with and where I was when I watched Clueless for the first time. I was 11-years-old, and I went to the local movie theater with my brother and dad. It was my day to choose the movie...and obviously I had an awesome dad and brother for them to sit through Clueless for me!

Clueless is a modern day take on Jane Austen's Emma. A young girl is so wrapped up in finding love for others, that she neglects her own love life. Clueless takes place in 90's Beverly Hills, where every girl is concerned with looks, cell phones, and shopping. Cher, the main character, is the equivalent of Austen's Emma. She has a best friend, Dionne, that helps her in her conquest to find everyone a mate. The new girl, Tai, joins them to complete the trio. Tai is a complete mess when it comes to finding love, but eventually finds her match, Travis. Dionne is in a relationship with Murray, and even though they argue non-stop, they're the cutest couple in the story. That leaves Cher. Cher ends up falling in love with her ex-brother, Josh, and they live happily ever after. Cher finally finds love for herself.

This movie is not only amazing for its nostalgic reasons, it's also amazing because of the quotes and characters. Pretty sure "As if" was a regular part of my vocabulary.

Clueless was a platform that skyrocketed several actors and actresses' careers: Alicia Silverstone, Brittany Murphy, Breckin Meyer, Paul Rudd, and Donald Faison.

I began my love affair with Breckin Meyer when this movie released.

I also became unbelievably obsessed with Paul Rudd.

Clueless was, and still is, a staple of American society. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it's so true. It's almost impossible to run into someone who has NOT seen this movie.

I give Clueless 4 out of 5 stars.
