My mission is to watch every movie I personally own. While watching each movie, I will review it and either confirm why I own this movie, or question my choices in life. I started this mission over three years ago...what can I say, I am not a very motivated individual.

Review of Daredevil
Movie #55 - Daredevil
Let me start off by saying that I'm not really even sure why we own this movie. This is the first time I have ever watched this movie...and it's been out for 10 years.
Daredevil is a Marvel Comics movie about a blind man who fights crime...and no, that's not the start to a good joke. I'm serious. Matt Murdock is Daredevil. His father was killed when Matt was young, and he has vowed to seek justice ever since. One day he meets his match in Elektra. Elektra doesn't last long though because she's on Bullseye's hit list. He wipes out her entire family and then moves on to her. I would say that Daredevil saves the day and kills Bullseye and his boss, Kingpin, but he doesn't. He plays the nice guy routine, and lets the police handle it. Kingpin goes to jail...which you know he will either break out of OR cause more havoc and hunt down Daredevil when he's eventually released. Bullseye is in the hospital...but there's a clip of him killing a fly buzzing around the room, so he's alive and well. There was never a sequel made to Daredevil, but if there ever was, you know Bullseye and Kingpin would be back...because they weren't killed. WHO DOESN'T KILL THE BAD GUYS?! These two people literally killed every single person you love AND the family of the girl you love - and you don't kill them?! Lame.
This movie wasn't as horrible as everyone said it was, but it was still pretty bad. I feel like Ben Affleck did an excellent job playing Daredevil, given that Daredevil is a stupid superhero that never should've be given his own movie. Not that I have anything against blind superheroes; I just don't think the character is that great. He's interesting, but his story doesn't make me go crazy about him. What I'm saying is that there are better superheroes out there. Daredevil is not for me. Even Jennifer Garner as Elektra was more interesting. My question - how in the world is there an Elektra movie that released AFTER Daredevil if Elektra dies in this film? Is the movie Elektra supposed to take place BEFORE Daredevil? But in that case, why did Ben Affleck film a scene in the movie Elektra as Daredevil (then the scene got cut, but whatever)? Maybe I just need to watch Elektra to clear this up.
In saying that Ben Affleck was good in his role as Daredevil, I do believe that this proves that he will be an excellent Batman. I enjoyed him in a superhero role. 99% of the population of the world think that Ben Affleck was incorrectly cast as the future Bruce Wayne, but I am here to put my foot down and say otherwise. He is completely believable to me as a crime-fighting bad-ass, AND Ben did a lot of his stunts so that he could earn credibility points. Nothing's more lame than a guy playing a superhero who can't even do his own stunts, so major props to Ben for that. You watch - Ben Affleck will be the best Batman to date...sure, he'll come in real close to Val Kilmer, but I believe he will end up being THE BEST Batman. Maybe it's just me being a Ben Affleck fan, but the dude's got the acting chops to pull this off. Just you wait and see.
Overall, I give Daredevil 2.5 out 5 stars.
