My mission is to watch every movie I personally own. While watching each movie, I will review it and either confirm why I own this movie, or question my choices in life. I started this mission over three years ago...what can I say, I am not a very motivated individual.

Review of Crazy Stupid Love
Movie #52 - Crazy Stupid Love
Crazy Stupid Love is a heart warming film about a man named Cal Weaver. Cal finds out that his wife cheated on him, and his life is thrown into complete disarray. He meets a guy name Jacob who impresses Cal with how many women he sleeps with. Cal wants to know how to be like Jacob, so Jacob decides to mentor him. He changes Cal's wardrobe, outward appearance, and overall outlook on life. This may seem like a good thing, but it ends up being more trouble for Cal. He gets a reputation for being a womanizer, just like Jacob, and it drives his wife, Emily, even closer into the arms of David, the man she cheated on Cal with. Cal finally gives up on the single life, and becomes determined to win Emily back. What causes this? His 13-year-old son teaches him a thing or two about love. While he sets his sights on Emily, he is blindsided by finding out that Jacob has taken an interest in someone very close to him: his daughter. I like this twist, because it creates a change in Jacob's life as well. Instead of being a womanizer who just tries to get women into bed, he has fallen in love. He calls her "a game changer." It takes Cal awhile to come to terms with that, but in the end, the Weaver family begins the path on their way back to being a family again.
This movie is phenomenal. The story is great. The casting is spot on. There is just nothing wrong with Crazy Stupid Love. The idea of finding your way back is a very touching story. Cal and Emily lose sight of what is important to them, but they realize it before it's really too late - and they have a chance of renewing their lost love. That's inspirational. Then to have some of this inspiration come from a 13-year-old boy's love for his 17-year-old babysitter - that's even better. A lot of people tend to ignore young kids when they say they're in love, but why? I remember being 16-years-old and completely head over heels in love. Honestly, I think our teenage years are the years where we feel the deepest love for someone. Our hormones are changing, and we're feeling things we've never felt before. We can give ourselves over to someone wholeheartedly. I believe that some adults still don't truly understand the meaning of love or how to love another person. I like that this movie focuses on that. The younger generation can be inspirational in so many ways, and I love that Cal's son helps him find his way back to Emily.
I also love the comedy in this movie. There really are some great scenes. My FAVORITE scene, and probably one of the best plot twist scenes in the history of cinema, is the scene when Jacob meets his girlfriend's family for the first time. Jacob sees Cal, Cal sees Jacob...let the battle begin. Cal doesn't realize that the woman Jacob has been seeing is his daughter, Hannah. It's perfect. Other characters enter the scene and join the fight for various reasons, and it creates an awesomely fantastic thing to watch!
Random thing I noticed while watching the movie this time: When Robbie deletes Jessica's name out of his phone after he finds out she really doesn't love him, the names underneath "Jessica R." are "Joey K." and "Josh B." This is HIS name and his on-screen sister's name in real life. Joey King plays his little sister, Molly, and Robbie's actor name is Jonah, but I believe his real name is Josh. That's just a fun little Easter egg I caught this time.
Crazy Stupid Love is definitely a movie I would recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it.
I give Crazy Stupid Love 4.5 out 5 stars.
