My mission is to watch every movie I personally own. While watching each movie, I will review it and either confirm why I own this movie, or question my choices in life. I started this mission over three years ago...what can I say, I am not a very motivated individual.

Review of a 40-Year-Old-Virgin. Ugh.
Movie #5 - 40-Year-Old Virgin. I don't know if my funny bone has changed drastically since 2005, but this movie is dumb. Extremely dumb. I remember thinking that this was one of the funniest movies I had ever watched...but now I find myself bored and trying to keep my eyes focused on the screen instead of updating my Facebook status. Paul Rudd, who is one of my favorite comedic actors of all time, is perfect. They give him a ridiculous back story, and he plays it out gloriously. Seth Rogen? Blah. I am not a Seth Rogen fan at all. Steve Carell? He's funny. Put him in a movie, and he will give you some laugh out loud moments. Overall though, this movie was about half an hour too long. Has anyone ever realized that this movie is 2 hours and 10 minutes long?! There are these things called 'deleted scenes'...use them.
The premise of the movie is hard to believe, because Steve Carell is an attractive man. We're supposed to believe that he has not EVER been with a woman? Good looks and an awesome sense of humor? He hasn't been a virgin since high school. I'd bet on that.I know it's just a movie, and the movies get us to believe the unbelievable, but I am just not on board with this one.
Currently, I am trying to choose a scene in the film that stood out as being hilarious, and I just can't. I guess the closest thing to funny would be the scene where Steve Carell is getting his chest waxed; however, the ONLY reason this scene is funny is because I read in an article once that this scene was completely improvised. I LOVE improvised comedy scenes. The looks on Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen's faces are priceless during this scene.
Overall, not a big fan at all. I give 40-Year-Old Virgin 2.5 out of 5 stars.
