Movie #10 - The Adjustment Bureau
I honestly thought this movie was directed by Christopher Nolan. It has the same feel as Inception, and the cinematography is similar to the Batman movies. It also has a slow moving plot, and I lose interest several times...that's the real reason I thought it was directed by Christopher Nolan.
The Adjustment Bureau focuses on David Norris (Matt Damon) running for office, and he has a path that the "Case Workers" are hell-bent on not letting him steer from. He meets a woman named Elise (Emily Blunt) that throws his life off his given path. What you find out throughout the movie is that their paths were once meant to intertwine, and that's why the two of them feel an overwhelming need to be together. It's a charming idea, and I sincerely feel for David and Elise; however, I think it's more because Matt Damon and Emily Blunt are phenomenal actors than the fact that the characters are interesting.
The premise of the movie is interesting enough to watch, and I love the idea of traveling through doors into a different building, area of the city, or odd location - however, wearing a hat to travel between locations is a bit odd and seems silly when put together with the rest of the film. Everything else is so serious, and then you have this guy who tells Matt Damon to beware of everyone in a hat. Um okay, sure.

I would like to take a moment to point out that I can never remember this guy's name (FYI: it's Anthony Mackie), but I always recognize his face. He probably has one of the best agents in the business. His agent gets him THE most amazing roles ever in some pretty awesome movies.
Examples: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Adjustment Bureau, Avengers 2, Gangster Squad, Pain and Gain, Real Steel, Eagle Eye, The Hurt Locker....quite honestly, the list goes on and on.
Moral of the story: Stick with the person you love, and you will write your own path. I think that makes for a pretty nice story line. I approve.
Overall, this movie is more suited for my husband's interests (this will come back up with the Bourne series and the Matrix films). I give The Adjustment Bureau 3.5 out of 5 stars.
