Movie #9 - Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls
So now I realize exactly where all of my catch phrases came from as a child. Back in elementary and middle school, I remember all of us quoting Jim Carrey like he was the coolest thing since sliced bread...a corny movie calls for corny figures of speech. Here's just a few gems that popped out at me while watching the movie: "Alrighty then", "lah-hoo-zah-her", and "ree-hee-hee-eally".
This movie brings me back to my childhood. It may be an extremely dumb movie, but that's what I like about it. We like dumb things when we're children. When I can sit down, as an adult, and still laugh out loud at a movie, then I consider it a winner. Jim Carrey is a funny dude. I really miss him being over the top silly. He started down the path of The Majestic and Man on the Moon, and there was no coming back. I do hope for him to earn some redemption now that's been cast in Anchorman 2 - but we'll see what happens...I mean, he was in that dud of a movie The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, and he's in Kick-Ass 2...yeah, poor guy.
I'm not going to waste your time by telling you the plot of the story because if, by this point in your life, you haven't seen an Ace Ventura movie, you should be ashamed.
Even though I laugh at this movie, it's not because it's a great comedy - it's just dumb and I enjoy laughing at dumb jokes. Overall, I give Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls 2.5 out of 5 stars.
