Movie #20 - Austin Powers in Goldmember
This movie is ridiculous, but I love it. I think the comedy of Michael Myers is genius. I loved him when he was on Saturday Night Live, and I love him in every movie he's ever been in. He's just straight up funny.
This may end up being one of my shortest movie reviews. There really isn't anything specific to discuss about the film; it is what it is. I would say that I don't think it's necessary to have so many celebrity cameos, but then again I feel like that adds to the ridiculousness and the hilarity of the film. I can't believe they got THAT many big-named celebrities to sign on to this. Tom Cruise, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin Spacey, Danny DeVito, Katie Couric, Britney Spears, Michael Caine, Beyonce, Steven Spielberg, Quincy Jones, Nathan Lane, Ozzy Osbourne, John Travolta, Rob Lowe...CRAZY good talent.
Beyonce though - let's just take a moment for me to rip her apart. Why is she even acting? Why do people think she's a talented singer? It baffles me. Dumb. She's dumb. Okay, that's all the breath I'll waste on her.
I can't wait for them to finally start production on the next Austin Powers movie. I've been waiting 11 years for Seth Green to get the spotlight and be evil.
Overall, I give Austin Powers in Goldmember a 3 out of 5 stars.
