Movie #42 - Buffy the Vampire Slayer
This movie is beyond dumb, but I love it. I don't know how many times I watched this when I was little, but it had to be a lot. Now that I'm re-watching it, I have most of the lines memorized.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer basically has the plot written into the title. It's about a teenage girl named Buffy that finds out she's "The Chosen One." She is the one person that has been chosen to kill vampires and end their time on this earth.
The one reason I was addicted to this movie from a young age is the fact that Luke Perry is in it. He plays Pike. Luke Perry is gorgeous, he's talented, and yet again (just like 90210), he plays the bad boy. Swoon. Put him alongside David Arquette, and seriously, what's not to love?
There are so many people in this movie that have gone on to have super successful careers - take Ben Affleck, for instance. This is before he was anybody. He has like one line, and he's not even credited with it on IMDb.
Or there's Donald Sutherland, who plays Buffy's trainer, Merrick.
And then Ricki Lake - a waitress at the bar...
And yeah, Hilary Swank's in this movie too, but I don't want to waste my time looking up a picture for her. Can't stand her. So...moving on.
Last, but not least, Paul Reubens. You may know him as Pee Wee Herman; I know him as a phenomenally talented actor. There's a scene in the movie where Buffy stakes him, and his death is priceless. See the attached link to the video!
Overall, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is definitely a movie made in the early 90's. It's corny, it has some overacting, the plot is light, and it has popular actors of that time playing the lead roles.
I give Buffy the Vampire Slayer 2.5 out of 5 stars.
