Review of Bubble Boy

Movie #41 - Bubble Boy

This movie is so ridiculous it's funny. This is a movie I watch when I need a pick me up. 

Bubble Boy is a story about Jimmy Livingston. He was born without any immunities, so his parents shelter him in a plastic bubble. When he falls in love with his friend, Chloe, and she runs off to Niagra Falls to get married, Jimmy creates a plastic bubble that he can walk around in, and he travels across the country to stop the wedding. He meets several crazy characters along the way, and finally gets to confess his true feelings to Chloe.

Jake Gyllenhaal is FANTASTIC in this movie. If you watch the variety of films he has done over the years, I would have to say that he is one of the most versatile actors out there. I really wish he would go back to doing comedy because he's incredible at it. Not that he's bad at action flicks and dramas, because he's amazing, but he never does comedy anymore, and it would be a refreshing change. He's such a talented actor.

There are so many cameos and decent actors in this film! Here's just a few: Fabio, Danny Trejo, Swoosie Kurtz, Marley Shelton, Verne Troyer...and a young (and handsome) Zach Galifianakis!

Overall, Bubble Boy is extremely entertaining, and it has a very heartfelt story. Even though it's very farcical and over the top, it's still enjoyable.

I give Bubble Boy 3.5 out of 5 stars.
