Review of Animal House

Movie #18 - Animal House

The older I get, the more funny this movie becomes. It's not amazing, but it's watchable. The cast is great, and it makes me appreciate (and miss) John Belushi's talent. "Was it over when the German's bombed Pearl Harbor?!" He's hilarious.

I do enjoy National Lampoon films. They've been making movies for over 40 years, and the story lines still get people laughing. I think the reason why I like National Lampoon films is because they take a real life situation, and they create ridiculous events out of it. Animal House is very much a farce.

70s and 80s comedies had a certain charm to them that comedies today don't have. Of course they had swearing, nudity, and some raunchy parts, but they had jokes that get lost in current comedy. This is the era when Saturday Night Live was really funny, and the writing was great.

Old School failed where this movie excelled. You can't recreate a classic like Animal House.

There isn't a lot to say about this movie because it's not a favorite, but it's always there for a good laugh.

P.S. This is yet another movie with Kevin Bacon in it...this is why 7 Degrees of Kevin Bacon is such an easy game to play...he's in EVERY movie. haha

Overall, I give Animal House 3 out of 5 stars.
