Review of The Day After Tomorrow

Movie #58 - The Day After Tomorrow

The Day After Tomorrow is a film that focuses on what would happen if a massive storm hit the northern hemisphere of Earth. It follows Jack Hall, a climatologist, who is trying to alert the government of this storm in time to evacuate cities and save lives. He finds out that his son, Sam, is trapped in New York City, so he vows to find him and bring him home safely.

My husband watches this film so much that I feel like I should be able to quote it. Even though I get annoyed when he's watching it, I never tell him to turn it off. It's actually quite an interesting movie. It doesn't capture my attention the entire time, but it does make me want to watch it several times and not get completely bored.

I love the action in it. Even though there are SEVERAL scenes that are long and drawn out, which causes a lull in my attention, the rest of the movie makes you feel for Sam and Jack. A large population of the world's citizens are in jeopardy of dying from these super storms, and to put a story of survival in there between a father and his son; it's heartwarming. Sam is played by Jake Gyllenhaal, so it's very easy to keep your eyes on the screen =) I mean look at this...I don't even know why this picture came up when I Googled "The Day After Tomorrow," but I'm sure happy it did...

Jake Gyllenhaal can save me from death any day. That Laura chick he falls for in the movie, she's a lucky girl. Sam is such an easy character to love. He has nothing but good intentions and, ultimately, saves an entire group of people.

There isn't really much else to say about the movie. There's a huge natural disaster, people die, people live...end of story.

Overall, I give The Day After Tomorrow 3.5 out 5 stars.
