#65 - Dumb and Dumber

Dumb and Dumber is one of the best comedies of all time. It has great lines that can be quoted in any situation. That's the mark of a great comedy.

Dumb and Dumber is the story of Lloyd and Harry: Best Friends and Roommates. Lloyd falls in love with a woman, Mary, who "leaves her briefcase behind," so Lloyd feels that he needs to get it back to her...and express his love in person. So, Lloyd and Harry set out on their way to Aspen, Colorado. On the way, they encounter several road blocks, including two thugs trying to kill them because the briefcase that Mary "left behind" is actually filled with cash. When the duo gets to Aspen, they discover what is in the briefcase and spend every last penny on ridiculous outfits, expensive cars, and a suite at the local hotel. This attracts the bad guys, and Lloyd and Harry find themselves in a lot of trouble. Harry saves the day, along with the police, and Lloyd finds out the love of his life is married. The BFFs head home from an incredible journey.

Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels as on-screen partners is GENIUS. I am so excited that a sequel is finally being made 20 years later. 90's Jim Carrey was perfect. There isn't a single movie he was in that I didn't love. I'm actually quite disappointed that he decided to go the dramatic route and basically tank his career. His comedies now just don't cut it. Hopefully Dumb and Dumber To can bring him back into the spotlight as the comedic god he used to be. I will admit though, that The Truman Show was an awesome choice. I will give him that one. Jeff Daniels, on the other hand, can basically do ANYTHING. He's funny, he's serious, he's talented...The Newsroom. Need I say more? Every movie or television show that Jeff Daniels has been in has been phenomenal. I'm also excited to see him back in action on Dumb and Dumber To.

As I said earlier, this film has awesome lines. I was only about 9 years old when this movie came out, so that means I have been quoting this movie for 20 years.

Harland Williams. Oh, Harland Williams. You need to do movies again. I miss your face. That is another actor that is a comedic genius, and no matter what movie he is in is hilarious. 

**Note: I own the Blu-ray, and I can't stand the extra scenes included in the film. They're a little crude compared to the rest of the humor in the script, and they seem out of place. I like the original cut of the film. FYI.

Overall, I give Dumb and Dumber 4.5 out of 5 stars.
